SEAT drivers `bottom of car servicing league'
- 11th June 2009
SEAT drivers are the worst in the UK at carrying out car servicing checks, it has been revealed.
Research carried out by car care company Comma found that despite the threat of a £1,413 repair bill, 71.4 per cent fail to carry out the most basic of car maintenance checks - assessing their oil levels - once a month as recommended.
The study also found that the next most careless drivers when it comes to this car servicing mistake are Jaguar and Volkswagen owners, with 68 per cent and 67 per cent respectively admitting they only check their oil once every six months or even less often.
"It's a torrid tale of excuses too. More than a quarter of Alfa Romeo drivers said they didn't know how to check their oil [and] two in five Audi owners now rely so heavily on their car's technology that they wrongly believe it isn't necessary to check between services," the organisation added.
Earlier this week, consumer group Which? stressed that tyre checks should be carried out regularly in order to help drivers reduce their fuel bills as under-inflated tyres can add eight per cent to fuel bills.
