New MOT agreement `will improve car servicing'
- 26th May 2009
New MOT regulations will improve road safety in the UK, it has been claimed.
According to the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF), which has signed an agreement with Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) to improve the standard of service offered by VOSA to car-servicing centres, the move will help standardise the group's procedures.
Stephen Coles, RMIF head of MOT operations, commented: "Ultimately I feel this will help the partnership between the MOT Station and VOSA to grow in a professional manner and contribute towards road safety."
He went on to say the agreement will improve the service offered by nominated testers and authorised examiners that are in contact with VOSA staff.
Earlier this month, the RMIF suggested that car-servicing firms carry out their own internal valuations prior to VOSA assessments of the services they provide.
Stephen Coles, head of the group's MOT operations team, commented that internal checks will be able to focus on specific areas of concern, whereas VOSA will simply present centres with an overall score.
