New book gives women advice on car servicing
- 1st September 2009
A new book has been released that aims to make women more knowledgeable on issues relating to car servicing.
The Girl’s Car Handbook, which has been written by Welsh author Maria McCarthy, includes information and guidelines designed for females who are unsure of many aspects of looking after their vehicle.
According to the Western Mail, it also includes details on carrying out basic checks on issues such as oil or tyres, as well as tips to spot when mechanics are being dishonest.
Talking about the book to the newspaper, Ms McCarthy said: “The fact is that most women aren’t remotely interested in how their car’s sprockets work or racing teenage boys at traffic lights.
“What they want are clear guidelines for carrying out basic maintenance checks.”
Adrian Walsh, director at road safety partnership RoadSafe, recently claimed there is no evidence that male drivers look after their cars better than women.
