Motorists warned about skipping car servicing
- 20th May 2010
A leading car manufacturer has warned drivers in the UK of the dangers of skipping car servicing.
Ford made the call after a YouGov study carried out for the company revealed that 15 per cent of motorists have postponed or avoided routine servicing in order to reduce their outgoings.
It also found that 18 per cent of respondents also do not have breakdown cover for their vehicles.
Mike Weatherston, group service marketing manager at Hendy Ford, said such trends are becoming all too common across the UK.
He added: "It's a story we hear often but while trying to avoid the cost, many of these drivers could regret skipping basic maintenance and roadside cover."
Will Thomas, head of motor at Confused.com, recently called on any drivers who mistakenly fill cars up with the wrong fuel to get their cars serviced as soon as possible.
He warned that the damage can cost a lot of money to correct.
