MOT ‘key to car insurance’

- 2nd March 2010

Motorists in the UK have been warned that their vehicles may not be covered by insurance if they do not have a valid MOT certificate.

According to Moneysupermarket.com, only the most helpful garages tend to send drivers information or reminders about when they should either get their cars serviced or have an MOT.
The website stated that this is something people need to keep a handle on, as it could impact on their ability to make an insurance claim in the event of an accident.
“While there’s no up-to-date MOT certificate, your car’s insurance is not valid, so your insurer could refuse to pay out if you were involved in an incident,” it explained.
The website also warned that driving without an MOT is illegal.
Auto Windscreens recently warned drivers not to underestimate the potential impact of a cracks or damage to windows.
The firm revealed that a number of people may not realise that certain levels of damage can lead to a fail.
