Foxy Lady Drivers Club calls for regular car servicing
- 7th January 2010
Drivers should ensure they get their cars serviced at least once a year, according to membership service Foxy Lady Drivers Club.
The organisation, which caters specifically for female motorists, has claimed in a statement that people should not believe an MOT guarantees “a safe car throughout the year”.
It outlined that a failure to stay on top of motoring issues could lead many to inadvertently increase their fuel consumption.
“Neglect your car for long enough and you could be adding 15 per cent to fuel costs alone – which makes the short term financial save of a car service a false economy in the long run,” the body explained.
“For example, a clogged air filter alone can increase the fuel you use by up to 10 per cent and a half-gassed air con system could raise fuel consumption by a staggering 35 per cent.”
Online used car retailer Autoquake recently stated that drivers should not resist the temptation to save cash by putting off servicing.
