FleetDirectory.co.uk issues winter weather warning

Motorists need to carry out basic car maintenance tasks when preparing to drive in difficult wintry conditions, according to an expert.
Writing for FleetDirectory.co.uk, Lee Sibbald has claimed that there are a number of tips that drivers have to bear in mind when preparing their vehicle for a trip in icy or snowy conditions.
He explained that de-icer is a must for such situations, while an all-weather windscreen shield could help to protect glass from frost and provide shade in the summer months.
However, he warned that people should not leave their engines running when defrosting windows, as it can have a negative impact on the technology by both wasting fuel and increasing wear.
“A good way to defrost a car, and warm the interior until the heater takes over, is to place a small electric fan heater inside for a few minutes,” he added.
Recent research by Post Office Car Insurance revealed that 48 per cent of all car owners have admitted to reducing their spend on repairs and maintenance to save money in the past year.
