Female motorists urged to keep eyes on the road
- 6th October 2009
Women drivers have been warned by an insurer to pay attention to the road if they want to avoid unnecessary repairs or car servicing.
Diamond has made the call after research found that 18 per cent of female motorists have applied make-up while on the move, with three per cent revealed they have crashed their car due to it.
The study revealed that women aged between 17 and 21 were most likely to be affected by such problems.
Sian Lewis, managing director of Diamond, said it was “quite worrying” that people would admit to this.
“We all have busy lives but applying your make up when you’re driving means your full attention is not on the road ahead. Is your mascara more important than yours and other road users’ safety?,” she added.
Earlier this year, Adrian Walsh, director at road safety partnership RoadSafe, claimed there is no evidence that women do not look after their cars as well as their male counterparts.
