Ensure car is ‘fully serviced’ before heading off on holiday
- 4th August 2009
With an increasing number of Brits driving in the UK for holidays this summer, one firm has advised they make sure their car is fully serviced.
According to HolidayExtras.com, motorists should also check the basics such as lights, wipers, screen wash, battery, oil and water levels before setting off, to ensure that their journey goes as smoothly as possible.
“Ensure your tyres have the required pressure and tread depth and acquaint yourself with the jack and wheel brace, maybe even practice changing a tyre before you leave,” the firm recommended.
It also warned drivers who are leaving their cars behind at airports to make sure the lights, wipers and air conditioning are all switched off, otherwise they may return to a flat battery.
The Retail Motor Industry Federation recently advised drivers to carry out car servicing checks before heading off on summer journeys.
It suggested that warm weather can put an extra strain on engines, while heavy luggage can put pressure on tyres.
