Drivers ‘use garages they know and trust’ for car servicing
- 20th August 2009
A new survey has revealed that the majority of vehicle owners use the same garage each time they need their car servicing.
The research by motoring website HonestJohn.co.uk found that 77 per cent of car owners like to have their car serviced by someone they know and trust and also highlighted that 65 per cent of respondents think a local garage provides the best service.
It was also noted that drivers are unwilling to give up regular services in a bid to save money during the recession, with 82 per cent saying they will not be cutting back.
However, people are unwilling to put up with bad service from a garage, with 57 per cent of those questioned saying they would take their vehicle back to the mechanic if they were unhappy with the work.
“Our survey demonstrates that consumers value trust and quality of service above everything when it comes to car repairs and maintenance. They know what they want from a service and expect some recourse if the job isn’t up to scratch,” commented a spokesperson for HonestJohn.co.uk
Alex Wells, a spokesperson for the Retail Motor Industry Federation, recently stated that cutting back on car servicing to save cash is a false economy as it can lead to larger, more costly, problems.
