Drivers ‘should follow manufacturer’s advice on servicing’
- 10th September 2009
Motorists should ensure they get their car serviced in accordance with guidance from vehicle manufacturers, according to a leading car rental firm.
In advice published to help those thinking about car maintenance, Europcar has suggested that MOTs and other servicing should be booked at the scheduled intervals outlined by the car’s maker.
The company added that drivers can help to maintain their vehicle by checking their tyre pressure regularly, while also improving their fuel economy by avoiding harsh acceleration.
Catriona Lougher, marketing director for Europcar, said: “We hope some of our inventive solutions to keep cars in top condition this autumn will help drivers reduce unnecessary wear and tear on their own vehicles.”
Recent research by HonestJohn.co.uk found that 77 per cent of car owners like to their vehicle serviced by garages or mechanics they trust, while 82 per cent added they will not be cutting back on the amount they pay on servicing in the current economic climate.
