DontKnowCars.com: Make car maintenance a 2010 priority
- 5th January 2010
A leading car advice website has urged motorists to keep a close eye on their cars this year
DontKnowCars.com has claimed that the best way for drivers to ensure their vehicles in good condition in 2010 is to be proactive, by regularly carrying out maintenance checks.
The site has called on people to check oil at every fill-up, ensure windscreen washers are full and wiper blades are fully functional and check anti-freeze levels.
Air filters, brake fluid and automatic transmission fluid could be checked at least once a month, it added, while tyres should also be inflated to the recommended pressure.
“Buy a tyre gauge, available at auto parts stores. Check the tires for cuts, bulges, and excessive tread wear. Uneven wear indicates tires are misaligned or out of balance,” the website explained.
Online used car retailer Autoquake recently claimed that drivers should resist the temptation to save cash by cutting back on servicing in the coming months.
