Over half of women daunted by trip to garage
New research has revealed that over half of women drivers have admitted to be daunted by taking their car to the garage for servicing.
The study by the car insurance specialist Diamond found that 52 per cent of females are not comfortable with it, while a third would like women-only garages become a common sight in the UK.
Younger generations were found to be the least confident when it comes to visiting a garage, while over-55s tend to the most able to deal with the situation.
Sian Lewis, managing director of Diamond, said: “Today’s generation of female motorists are knowledgeable about cars and many do basic servicing themselves.
“However garages still seem to be very much men’s domain and can be intimidating for some women. Women-only garages could make for a more comfortable experience.”
Previous research by Diamond found that almost 50 per cent of women regularly discuss their vehicles with friends, while around a quarter carry out maintenance on cars before long journeys.
