Carsite.co.uk: Long MOT certificate ‘key when selling’
- 28th January 2010
Drivers can ensure they receive the full resale value of their cars by having a long MOT certificate when trading it in, according to Carsite.co.uk.
The online used car retailer has claimed that a short MOT certificate is among the ten most common ways that vehicle owners lose value when looking to sell or trade.
It is believed the value of a car with only a few weeks left on its MOT could fall by between £200 and £300, while an incomplete service book or vehicle history could lead to a drop of £300 and £400.
Alistair Jeff, of Carsite.co.uk, said: “A well maintained car is the best way to get a good resell valuation and fill your buyer with confidence.
“Keeping your car clean with an up-to-date service book and selling with a long MOT are simple, but rewarding, steps to achieving this.”
Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond recently claimed in his column for Mirror.co.uk that motorists should do all they can to ensure their cars pass MOT checks.
