Car servicing `increasing in credit crunch'
- 3rd March 2009
Motorists are opting to hold on to their vehicles for longer and have them serviced regularly, rather than buy a new car in the difficult economic climate, it has been revealed.
According to the Irish Independent, this is leading to dealers and garages seeing more car servicing business.
Eddie Ryan, sales and marketing director of Advance Pitstop, told the news provider that car owners who have always owned a new vehicle in the past are now finding they have to deal with issues such as changing a tyre or needing a service for the first time.
"Then you have people who would have had second-hand cars and would have changed them on a somewhat frequent basis, not every year, but maybe every couple of years," he added.
Last week, a study carried out by Toronto-based servicing firm Speedy Corporation indicated more women are showing interest in vehicle maintenance, although they do feel they receive an inferior deal to their male counterparts when it comes to
getting their car serviced.
