Car servicing `can save money in credit crunch'
- 19th March 2009
Regular car servicing can help motorists save money in the difficult economic climate, it has been claimed.
According to car company Kia, the way in which car owners drive can also cut the cost of motoring.
Spokesperson for the group Steve Kitson commented: "Drivers should regularly service their car to ensure it is in tip-top condition. Factors such as tyre pressure and engine oil can affect the level of fuel efficiency."
He went on to say that driving smoothly, accelerating gently and keeping to the speed limit will all help keep fuel consumption low.
Mr Kitson went on to say fuel wastage can be avoided by not leaving a car running unnecessarily before a journey and planning the shortest route ahead of setting off.
Earlier this week, William Findlay, chief executive of motor company Nulon UK, claimed that neglecting car servicing can lead to a vehicle producing more carbon emissions, as un-burnt fuel and oil deposits can build up inside the engine if it is not cleaned regularly.
