Car servicing ‘can cut motoring costs’
- 3rd September 2009
Motorists can cut the amount they spend on driving by having their cars regularly serviced, it has been claimed.
According to David Lang, chief engineer for the AA, car servicing helps to maintain energy efficiency and can also reduce fuel costs.
Talking to the Harlow Herald, he also claimed that keeping within speed limits can also be beneficial, as it will improve “the life of a car” and mean less has to be spent on replacing tyres and brake pads.
He added that simple tactics such as planning journeys can also have a positive impact.
“Planning routes to avoid getting lost and driving unnecessary miles, checking traffic information before setting out, avoiding peak periods, and filling up before getting on the motorway, all rake back the petrol pounds,” he explained to the newspaper.
Saga recently called on motorists to not forget to check issues such as oil and tyre pressure before heading on a trip abroad.
