Car model can affect service costs
- 18th June 2009
Drivers looking to buy a new car could be influenced by a desire to keep service costs as low as possible, a commentator claims.
Matt Tumbridge, writing for the Ayrshire Post, states that many people choose a vehicle assuming that this will cost the same whatever the make or model.
He highlights Ford dealers as a particularly low service cost choice, with the Focus receiving 32 UsedCarExpert.com fault checks and costing an average of £150.
Other cheap selections include the Honda Civic, with 14 checks costing an average of £108 and the Hyundai i30, which requires approximately £134 to service.
Mr Tumbridge tells the news provider: "It would be logical to think that cars which are cheap to buy would be cheap to service too. I've just taken some time studying service costs and was shocked at the variations."
Last month, the Coventry Telegraph reported that car servicing is needed regularly in order to avoid expensive repairs such as the replacement of catalytic converters.
