AutoMD.com reveals when drivers need car servicing

- 1st July 2010

An online automotive resource has revealed the top five jobs that drivers in the UK should leave to car servicing experts.

According to AutoMD.com, there are plenty of maintenance tasks that motorists can carry out themselves, such as replacing bulbs, wiper blades, fuses and air filters.

However, the site added that tasks related to replacing engines, transmissions, the clutch and A/C components should be carried out by qualified mechanics with plenty of experience in the areas.

Another issue that the website has suggested motorists should leave to the experts is performing a wheel alignment.

Discussing the issue, AutoMD.com said it can take more than two hours and “requires specialty equipment to perform the job”.

“It is not practical for a DIYer to have this equipment (some repair shops don’t even have the equipment),” it added.

According to recent research by Unbiased.co.uk, nearly two-thirds of households in the UK seek expert advice when it comes to vehicle repair and maintenance issues.
