Why does no one else offer XPRESS Service or XPRESS MOT?

Our IN’n’OUT Service and XPRESS MOT Centres offer a completely new approach to car care by offering fixed prices, an efficient service and comfortable customer lounges. Our services are completed in the fastest time possible, minimising inconvenience for you. The layout of our buildings, the quality of our staff and equipment and the customer focus of our systems are all specifically designed to make car maintenance and testing a stress-free experience for you. The reason no one else does it is that it is a completely new market position that required significant investment and certainty of purpose to effect.

Back to questions

How can you service a car in 30 minutes when the dealer takes all day?

Our buildings are purpose built for speed and efficiency and with our well trained service crew working on your car at once we can get the job done in a fraction of the time. Dealers don’t take all day either its just that their whole process takes all day. Inefficient systems lead to customer inconvenience.

Back to questions

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes, all of our workmanship and parts are covered by our no-quibble guarantee. We rarely get complaints but when we do they are treated as urgent and unacceptable matters.

Back to questions

My car is under 3 years old. Will your service invalidate my manufacturer's warranty?

Absolutely not. The Block Exemption Regulations (1400/2002) lifted the restrictions in May 2004, to increase competition in the servicing and repair market, giving consumers more choice and better value for money. Manufacturers are now required to honour warranties when independent operators service the vehicles – it’s the law. We can service your car and supply and fit manufacturer’s quality parts without it invalidating your warranty. For extra peace of mind all our work and parts are guaranteed.

Back to questions

My handbook recommends Mobil oil; which oil do you use?

We use Castrol Premium which in all but a few cases will exceed the requirements for your vehicle. Dealers often affiliate with brands but specialised Castrol Lubricants cover all vehicles available in the UK. Moreover; if there was a mechanical failure due to ineffective lubricants, rest assured that IN’n’OUT would guarantee to resolve the matter at no cost to you.

Back to questions

Will using IN’n’OUT affect my service history?

Not in the slightest. All our work is guaranteed, and we can stamp your service book to reflect the checks we’ve made and the parts we’ve replaced. Depending on your point of view this can supplement major service interval work done at a Dealer or can serve as a part of a Non-Dealer Service Record. Major events such as cam belt changes cannot be ignored and are considered necessary. If you are fastidious and want to ensure long engine life preventative maintenance can be more frequent than Manufacturer Recommendations. This is how we maintain our own cars with XPRESS Servicing every 6 months / 6000 miles and frequent top-ups to ensure maximum cooling, friction reduction and clean running.

Back to questions

Can you stamp my service book?

Yes, to reflect the items we’ve checked and parts we’ve replaced. We will not however certify work that we have not done.

Back to questions

I have a company car. Can I bring it to you for a service?

It depends on whether you’re responsible for the servicing of your car or not. If it’s your decision, then why not come to IN’n’OUT? All our work is guaranteed and won’t affect your car manufacturer’s warranty at all. We are already used by major leasing companies. Check out Fleet Services

Back to questions

My car is really old - what's the point of having it serviced?

Cars can experience problems at any age but particularly if they’re older. Frequent servicing means extended life and early detection of component wear or failure is likely to be much cheaper than having to fix a major problem .

Back to questions

Why do you recommend my car should be serviced every 6000 miles?

With usage, the quality and volume of oil in the engine declines. Regular servicing helps to ensure maximum protection, performance and fuel economy. Manufacturers have other motives for extended service period recommendations and they do not necessarily optimise engine life. Race engines lubricants and filters are changed every time they have been run for this same reason.

Back to questions

Why does it cost the same for any type of car?

Simple mathematics drive our same price any car policy. We want to keep things simple and clear, so that you know before you visit us what it will cost to have a service. There are no nasty surprises with IN’n’OUT prices.

Back to questions

Can you turn off my service light/reset the service mileage counter on my onboard computer?

We can reset or turn lights off on most vehicles.

Back to questions

How long does a service or MOT take?

Our XPRESS Service takes less than 30 minutes to complete and our XPRESS MOT takes 40 minutes. As we’re popular there may be someone ahead of you, but a magazine; cappuccino and relaxing surroundings are there to make this a comfortable break in your day. There’s WiFi for the more industrious customers however so no-down-time unless you want some.

Back to questions

My car is due an MOT - what happens if it fails?

Try not to worry. We use Automated Testing Lanes (ATL's) which are the most advanced in the world. ATL's gives a really fair and accurate test so our failure rates are never in question and you feel safe. If your car fails on something serious we’ll explain what needs doing and we can arrange the work for you through one of our approved repair centres if you’d feel it’s safer that way. We’ll then give you a free re-test within 10 working days.

Back to questions

Why don't you do MOT repairs?

We focus on MOT testing as efficiently and quickly as possible. On site repairs lead to dirty and disorganised workshops. We work with a number of specialist repairers who we are happy to refer to much as a GP refers to a trusted specialist. If you want them to repair your car we will manage the process for you and serve to guarantee your satisfaction but it’s your car, so it’s entirely up to you.

Back to questions

Why does XPRESS Air Conditioning Service cost more than the air con service at Kwik Fit?

Headline prices never tell the full story. We don’t think there’s any point recharging something before we’ve thoroughly checked it so we inspect your entire system for leaks in pressure lines or connections. We also disinfect & deodorise the system and replace your pollen filters to ensure your comfort and good health by guarding against bacteria and allergens [after all – that’s what the filters are there for]. What you should ask is ‘why don’t all other service centres do this as part of a complete Air Conditioning System Service?. The cherry on top is that our service also comes with a six-month guarantee so if your A/C loses its cool within 6 months we’ll recharge it for free.

Back to questions

What is the XPRESS Anti-Freeze Service for?

Heat is a killer for mechanical devices like engines. The coolant system keeps your car’s engine from overheating by circulating coolant fluid around the engine. It also prolongs the life of your engine by helping to prevent rust and corrosion. Replacing the coolant removes deposits and contaminants, which damage your engine.
